1. When can I register for SG? Only at the start of a Semester, or at any time?
Registration dates will be same as Add/Drop dates as per the Academic Calendar for the semester. No registrations will be allowed after the last date of Add/Drop.

2. Do I have to get training from an instructor in person? Can’t I do some online course related to SG?

SG can also be done at Home using some online learning tool, given that you first get your proposal approved, and submit a proper progress report and certification

3.Can i split my work or Do I have to complete 80 hrs at once?

You can split your work in two halves of 40 hrs (1 credit ) each

4. Is it necessary to give demo right after the semester following the completion of SG training?

It is mandatory to present your work in the semester following the completion of SG work. For this, you need to fill out the form (that will be shared at the end of the Semester), after which your documents will be verified and you will have to give a presentation.

5. Are Powerpoint presentations/slides acceptable during the presentation?
Yes. Along with the practical demonstration of the skill. For some skills for which the demo is not possible (Eg. Swimming) the students needs to submit a certificate of completion and also the pictures of practice and progress every week in the powerpoint presentation.

6. Can I skip presentations?
No. It’s mandatory to present, based on which final evaluation is done.

7. Would my work at the summer school in IIITD count toward SG credits?
No, it can be counted towards CW credits only.

8. I am not able to get a stamp on my certificate from the organization.
In special cases only we allow the student to ask the organization to write a formal mail validating student’s work and the student is supposed to forward the same to selfgrowth@iiitd.ac.in, admin-Btech@iiitd.ac.in, faculty-in-charge and Manager, Academics.

9. When is the latest semester when I can present my SG work?
If you wish to graduate in May, you should have presented your work in the preceding winter semester (i.e., your 8th semester). Therefore you need to plan accordingly and submit your SG proposal before the end of your 7th semester. There will be only one presentation in a semester typically scheduled in the first half.

10. Will my course fee be reimbursed by the institute?
The Institute has made a provision of reimbursing half the course fee for some activities. The student may contact AM(Student Affairs) or JM(Academics) for more details. For reimbursement, you would also need to submit an original receipt of the paid course fee.

• The best semester to pursue SG is the summers as the students have a good amount of time to dedicate to the training of the SG activity.

• However, There are no restrictions regarding the scheduling of SG work. If you can manage the workload during the regular semester, you may choose to do so.

• Mandatory course means if you don’t complete the course then you might not get your degree so it important to complete this course



1. Any activity at IIITD campus will only be offered if there are minimum 10 registrations and minimum 5 registrations for activities that to be offered outside IIITD Campus

2. 50 % of the fees will be reimbursed by the institute

3. Some of the activities that are offered are Painting, yoga, aerobics, basketball, foreign language, self-defence, swimming, learning of foreign language.

Searching Organization:
Finalize an organization, or you may also work on something on your own or in a group, or under the guidance of a faculty.
Registration:
To be done on ERP during the Add/Drop period and on the Portal a week before the add/drop.
Proposal:
Any information which could not be conveyed in the form on the portal must be uploaded as a 'Proposal' file in the upload files section of the project in this format.

Proposal Approval:
You can check the approval status of your proposal within a week after the submission, on SG portal login. Once it has been approved, you may start working.
Work Completion:
On completion, you have to obtain a completion certificate (with the stamp and contact no. of the person in charge) from the organization.
Report:
After completion, you are expected to prepare a report in the format specified here. It should be submitted within one year of acceptance of the proposal, failing which the student has to start afresh, from submitting the proposal.
Grade:
Based on the presentation you will be awarded “S-Satisfactory” or “X-Unsatisfactory”. In case of failure to present the work in the subsequent semester, you will be awarded “X-Unsatisfactory” grade.
Weekly log submission:
Maintain a log report for each day including the work done (hourly report). This needs to be submitted (after getting it signed by the concerned supervisor) on the portal on a weekly basis.
Final Presentation:
You have to prepare a poster (or set of 8-10 slides). There will be a poster session every semester as per the dates mentioned in the calendar (typically during the first 2-3 weeks).
